Choreographers past and present

The company has commissioned more than 80 works since its founding, from international choreographers such as Edouard Lock, Richard Siegal and Marco Goecke, and from Brazilian names including Rodrigo Pederneiras and Jomar Mesquita. It has also staged existing work by Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe and George Balanchine.

Steven Milne, Head of Programming at Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: “There is so much passion and enthusiasm here in the Granite City for exceptional dance from all over the globe, and São Paulo Dance Company are among the very best. We know Aberdeen will give them a warm welcome and what a treat to have such amazing world-class dancers on our local stage.”

HMT is one of 24 venues across the UK and Ireland that make up Dance Consortium, a group set up to bring international contemporary dance to British and Irish stages. The member theatres jointly select which companies to invite, share the cost of touring and pool their expertise to support the visiting artists.
