We love to hear about new community events in the city, and Envirolution Aberdeen piqued our interest this week. The new environmental festival takes place on Saturday 28 September in the beautiful Seaton Park. It's all about making climate action fun, accessible, and inclusive, and with a range of activities, performances, and workshops, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Hands-On Workshops and Eco-Friendly Fun

From 1pm to 6pm, you can dive into creative workshops like rag rug making, natural dyeing, and even paper-making. If you’re into games, check out the Green Games Club, where you can play environmentally-themed card and board games. Cyclists can learn how to repair bikes with BeCycle or even use pedal power to make a smoothie with the University of Aberdeen Students’ Union. There’s also the chance to explore the park with guided tours, including an edible plant walk led by ethnobotanist Ru Helmore.

Local Delights and Shopping

While you’re there, don’t miss out on eco-friendly shopping. You’ll find everything from plants and terrariums to Fairtrade goods and locally-grown produce. Need a snack? The Good Food Kiosk will be selling banana bread, with part of the proceeds going to Aberdeen North Food Bank. Plus, Seaton Park’s ‘Tea in the Park’ will be open, and Aberdeen University Students' Union is offering free meals for a limited time.

Envirolution has been making a positive impact in Manchester since 2010, providing pro-active solutions and options for local residents — our Cooperative is incredibly excited to be working with amazing local partners [in Aberdeen] on the first-ever Envirolution festival outside of Manchester.

Connect with Nature and Community

Nature lovers can join in on Buglife’s Bug Bingo or learn about local wildlife from Butterfly Conservation and Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels. If you’re more into the arts, enjoy live music and spoken word performances throughout the day.

Whether you’re new to climate action or looking to connect with others who share your passion, Envirolution Aberdeen offers a day full of free activities, entertainment, and education. It's a great chance to have fun, learn something new, and take a step towards a greener future.
