Your Guide to November's Long Nights and Bright Lights
A snapshot of what to catch in Aberdeen this month, with events to inform, inspire, and entertain.
Hey You,
Welcome to the November POST Newsletter. We're still struggling with the fact that it's November already! We're trying really hard to avoid "time flies" chat but when a metaphor (idiom?) works, it works.
The month ahead is again fully packed and we’re here to be your guide. From art and film to whisky and cabaret, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Among the highlights, local artist Jenny Hood will be sharing stories behind her exhibition NINE, and Aberdeen’s 48 Hour Film Project returns, challenging filmmakers to create a movie from scratch over one weekend. And don't forget about TEDx Aberdeen. It's a big day full of creative ideas. We'll have plenty of coverage for you.
For those interested in history with a twist, the Aberdeen Bestiary talk brings together experts who’ll be exploring the city’s medieval art treasures and their modern impact. And if you’re ready to immerse yourself in another culture, you won’t want to miss the Chinese Dragon show or the Japanese Whisky Tasting evening.
We have loads planned for the month ahead here on POST so don't forget to drop in over the next few weeks. For now, let's get on with it, shall we?

What We've Been Writing About
October was a lively month for Aberdeen’s culture scene, with POST bringing fresh stories on creativity, sustainability, and community. The south side of the city welcomed a new legal graffiti wall, giving street artists a free space to paint. It’s a big move, supporting local talent and adding character to the area with bold new artworks.
Meanwhile, Belmont Cinema is putting environmental concerns right at the centre of it's plans for the future. Thanks to a recent grant, they now closer to its net-zero goals, showing a real commitment to lowering its carbon footprint while returning to the cultural heart of Aberdeen.
In another highlight, Queer Now opened in October with a celebration of Scotland’s LGBTQ+ history. This powerful project shared stories that have often been left untold, providing a space for reflection and connection. It’s a touching tribute to the diversity that shapes our communities.
For beer lovers, Fierce Beer is spearheading the new Aberdeen Beer Festival. This revamped event promises an exciting showcase of craft brews, giving locals a great way to sample and celebrate Aberdeen’s thriving craft beer scene.
We also brought you news of Jenny Hood’s exhibition Nine, which delves into themes of personal change. Hood’s work explores transformation in a way that feels both intimate and relatable, encouraging viewers to look inward as they experience her art. The show continues until 9 November.
