Christmas Wind-Down

Fit like?

Just a quick one this month to keep you up-to-date on what's happening over the next few weeks here in Aberdeen. Events are definitely winding down as folks' eyes turn to the big distraction of the holiday season.

We hope you have a brilliant Christmas, whether you celebrate it or not. We totally understand those that want to skip the whole thing. It really can be overwhelming.

But there are still plenty of events that aren't Christmas related to keep you distracted or to help quell the excitement. Either way, we'll see you on the other side. In the meantime, stay in touch on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and now Tumblr.

Since Last Time

It feels like so much has happened in November. Here are a few of the highlights from the news section of the POST website.

If you ever have a story you want to share, please get in contact.

SNUG

SNUG is a brilliant new project from All In Ideas and Elev8Arts. They are offering a warm, friendly space for visitors to relax and be creative. Hot drinks, art equipment and warm smiles are available for free (or for a small donation if you can).

On top of that, they are also offering workshops with local creatives. While you need to book your spot for those, for everything else they are open every Friday from 10am - 5:30pm. Rock up and say hi. Follow them on Instagram for the latest.

The arguments around the pedestrianisation of Union Street continue to rumble on. We think that Aberdeen has an opportunity to change the city centre from a four-lane nightmare into a street-level, urban park...a green and granite mile. Spoiler alert...the high street is dead...so what now? Read more

Christmas Shopping

Shop local at New Aberdeen Pop-Ups

If you're looking for something unique to gift this Christmas, or even just looking to treat yourself, you should definitely consider one of Aberdeen's fantastic new pop-up shops, supporting local artists and creatives.

Look Again has transformed its unit on St. Andrews Street and Deemouth Artist Studios has opened Edit on Upper Kirkgate. In addition, Origin has opened a plastic recycling centre called Origin Hub, on George Street and finally, DEPARTMNT has been launched by Second Home on Gaelic Lane.

This a great way to explore local talent and shop locally this Christmas.
