Plus, Aberdeen Artists Society open call and other creative opportunities.
This edition finds Aberdeen’s cultural institutions looking ahead, whether that’s a festival planning its second decade, a society opening its doors to new work, or a student station rebuilding from the ground up.
Ann Landmann to curate Granite Noir 2027
Aberdeen Performing Arts has announced that Ann Landmann will curate the next Granite Noir Festival, taking place in February 2027. The crime writing festival has run in Aberdeen for a decade and is regarded as one of Scotland’s leading literary events, with Landmann’s appointment marking the start of its second ten years.
She spent nine years as Events Manager at Blackwell’s Bookshop before moving into publishing with Birlinn Ltd, and founded Cymera, Scotland’s festival of science fiction, fantasy and horror writing, in 2018.
Aberdeen Student Radio set for comeback
Aberdeen Student Radio is preparing to return three years after disbanding, with organisers Jordan Stead, Jonathan Dorrat and Innes Paton aiming to have the station broadcasting again by the start of next semester. The team has secured the former radio room in the Student Union building and plans to use existing recording equipment, much of it untouched since the station went off air.
A launch is planned around Freshers’ Week, with the first show expected close to that date.
Aberdeen Artists Society opens call for Within Measure

The entry deadline is 1 August 2026, with the show running from 3 October to 1 November and prizes awarded on 2 October.
Camphill School seeks eurythmist or musician for Colour/Light Therapy
Camphill School Aberdeen is recruiting a eurythmist or musician to join its Colour/Light Therapy team, delivering small group sessions for children and young people with complex additional support needs.
The therapy combines movement, coloured light and live music: a eurythmist performs behind a screen lit by daylight through coloured acetate, casting shifting shadows synchronised with music and poetry performed by a second therapist, creating a calming sensory experience for students.
Volunteers fill 252 bags in 24-hour litter pick
A 24-hour litter pick organised by Aberdeen City Council saw 584 volunteers fill 252 bin bags across 52 separate clean-ups around the city. Groups including schools, community councils and conservation organisations took part, with picks running every hour from midnight to midnight.
Unusual finds included a light blue leather jacket, scooters and part of a cable drum.
