This October, Peacock is bringing Outlaw Printmaker Sean Starwars to Aberdeen for an intensive woodcut workshop. Running from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th October, the workshop offers participants a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the most exciting names in contemporary printmaking. Whether you’re new to relief printing or looking to sharpen your skills, this three-day experience promises to be educational, fast-paced, and fun.

Sean is an artist with a rock-star reputation in the printmaking world. Based in Mississippi, he’s an original member of the Outlaw Printmakers and has earned widespread recognition for his bold, colourful work. His style combines humour, pop culture, and vibrant energy, making his prints instantly recognisable. With an MFA in printmaking and years of experience, Sean operates his print shop, the Woodcut Funhouse, where he continues to inspire a new generation of printmakers.

Learn Woodcut Techniques from a Printmaking Legend

Over the weekend, you'll learn to create a four-colour woodcut print from multiple wood blocks. Sean will guide you through every step of the process—from image preparation to carving and printing techniques. You’ll also learn valuable tips on tool selection, ink mixing, and material maintenance. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with vibrant, colourful prints and a deeper understanding of this timeless craft.

The class is suitable for all levels, though previous experience with printmaking or carving may be helpful. All materials and tools will be provided, so all you need to bring is your creativity and some ideas for your design. Sean’s workshop is an opportunity to dive into the world of woodcutting with the support of a seasoned professional in a lively, hands-on environment.
