Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks Back With a Feast of Flavours

Aberdeen Restaurants Weeks comes round twice a year, giving city venues the chance to show off their delicious menus to a ravenous foodie crowd. It’s the Pokémon of the city’s food scene — gotta catch ‘em all!

The latest edition is the biggest yet, with almost 80 restaurants, cafés and bars signed up, offering set menus from £10 to £35. Organisers, Aberdeen Inspired, say it’s now the largest event of its kind in Scotland.

New names on the bill this time include Tarragon, The Chester Hotel and Yorokobi by CJ, alongside Irmak Restaurant, Casa Del Fuego and Jungle Berry. They join regulars such as Amarone, 8848 Restaurant, 210 Bistro, Gio’s by La Lombarda and Maggie’s Grill. Between them, the venues cover everything from gourmet burgers to haute cuisine.

First time for familiar names

Yorokobi by CJ on Huntly Street is taking part for the first time. Managing director Jae Jang said it also marks the family-run restaurant’s 21st year in business, and called Restaurant Weeks a chance to welcome new faces and build lasting relationships with customers.

Chef Graham Mitchell, whose Rosemount and city centre sites are both taking part, said the event gives him a chance to show off two different sides of his cooking. “The city’s hospitality sector really needs this extra push at the moment,” he said.

“Every booking makes a difference, not just to individual restaurants but to the wider economy, helping create jobs, support local suppliers and keep our city centre vibrant.”

Secret Suppers return

Alongside the festival’s famous set menus, two Secret Suppers will take place on 28 August and 3 September, with diners finding out the venue and menu only on the day. Tickets cost £65 per person and are limited.
