Aberdeen Art Gallery re-opens it's doors
Aberdeen Art Gallery reopened its doors after a four year redevelopment and it’s incredible. As a result the city has a modern facility displaying over three floors and displaying over 1000 items. And the work was worth it… it’s a must see!
As visitors approach the gallery, they are greeted by a stunning façade of marble and glass. The modern design is a far cry from the original Victorian building, which first opened its doors in 1885. The renovation has been a long time coming, with the project first being proposed almost a decade ago.
Upon entering the gallery, guests are immediately struck by the spacious and airy atmosphere. Natural light floods in through the skylights, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The first floor features a range of contemporary art, from paintings and sculptures to installations and multimedia pieces.
As visitors make their way through the galleries, they are treated to a diverse array of works by local and international artists. The museum has made a conscious effort to showcase the talents of artists from a variety of backgrounds, and it truly shows in the range of styles and mediums on display.
Engage with the art in a more hands-on way
One of the highlights of the new gallery is the interactive exhibits, which allow visitors to engage with the art in a more hands-on way. In the children’s area, young visitors can create their own masterpieces at the art stations, while the technology gallery features virtual reality experiences and interactive installations.
But the Aberdeen Art Gallery is not just a place to appreciate art. It’s also a place to relax and unwind. The café, located on the lower level, offers a range of refreshments and light meals, as well as a beautiful outdoor courtyard where visitors can sit and take in the sights and sounds of the city.
