A TO Z Aberdeen launched last year with 25 performers and two sold-out nights at Aberdeen Arts Centre. For their second production they are making the move to the Tivoli Theatre, one of the oldest working theatres in the city, after more than 134 people expressed interest in joining the company this year.

The show they’ve chosen is Dear Evan Hansen, the Broadway musical about a teenager with severe social anxiety whose private letter is misread after a classmate’s death by suicide. Caught in a lie that quickly spirals, Evan accidentally becomes a social media sensation, taken in by the grieving family and briefly belonging somewhere he never expected.

A new home for the company

The company has also opened a rehearsal studio on Market Street, a permanent base for rehearsals, workshops and events. Co-director Joel Simpson said the move to the Tivoli felt unexpected: “We never believed moving to such a historic venue in the heart of Aberdeen would be possible so soon.”

Joining the returning creative team for the 2026/27 season is new co-director Jackie Robertson. The production will also mark the first time Dear Evan Hansen has been performed by Aberdeen-based talent, both on stage and off.

Tickets are on sale now through Aberdeen Performing Arts, with the run opening on 27 January 2027. Supporters can use the code DEAREARLYHAN for 15% off, available until 29 June 2026.
