Mogwai have confirmed plans for a UK tour in early 2026, with Aberdeen Music Hall set to host the Glasgow group on Friday 13 February. The date marks their return to the city, offering fans the chance to hear new material alongside favourites from across their career.

Formed in 1995, Mogwai have built a reputation for sprawling instrumentals and sudden bursts of noise, creating atmosphere without relying on lyrics. They tour this time on the back of their 11th studio album The Bad Fire, released earlier this year. The record takes its title from a Scots phrase for Hell and follows the success of 2021’s As The Love Continues, which reached number one in the UK charts.

Aberdeen return

The new run of shows places Aberdeen among a select number of Scottish dates. For local audiences, the Music Hall concert is a chance to see a band whose influence stretches well beyond their own catalogue. The last time they visited the city, their set drew long-time supporters and newcomers discovering their sound for the first time.

Support in February comes from Forest Swords, the electronic producer known for heavy beats and detailed soundscapes. His presence on the bill promises contrast, pairing his experimental approach with Mogwai’s guitar-driven crescendos.

Live reputation

Over nearly three decades, the band have moved from Glasgow’s small venues to international stages without losing their distinctiveness. Their live shows are known for dramatic shifts in volume and intensity, moving from near silence to overwhelming distortion. The Music Hall’s acoustics should make the most of those dynamics, setting up a memorable night for north-east fans.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 19 September, with pre-sale sign-up available through the band’s website.
