The theatrical adaptation of Imogen Stirling’s poem cycle, Love the Sinner, arrives at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on Thursday 12 September, as part of a national tour. This production brings Stirling’s evocative poetry to life on stage through a creative collaboration with the renowned Scottish theatre company, Vanishing Point.

Set in contemporary Scotland, Love the Sinner follows seven characters, each embodying one of the seven deadly sins, as they navigate a world filled with judgement and the relentless pursuit of self-improvement. Against a city brimming with life, they grapple with their desires and search for meaning amidst the noise and confusion.

The performance combines spoken word, music, and video, creating a visual and auditory journey from darkness to light. The city comes alive with video projections, tracing a path through its streets at night, where images emerge from shadows in a vivid, illuminated landscape. The result is a compelling fusion of poetry and theatre, capturing the energy and complexity of urban existence.

Love the Sinner is a perfect example of the fantastic creative storytelling work being produced right here in Scotland, and we’re delighted to be bringing this brilliant production to Aberdeen. At heart, the show is a story about people - about what it means to feel alone and the power that connection can bring.
