James are bringing their largest arena tour to date to Aberdeen’s P&J Live on Tuesday 7th April 2026, with Doves joining as special guests. It’s a substantial double bill of British alternative rock, and the band have history in the city. Aberdeen has consistently turned out for them across four decades and more than 30 million albums sold.

The tour comes off the back of a genuine milestone. Yummy, which arrived in April 2024 as their 18th album, became their first-ever #1 studio album. It’s not a nostalgic record either. The album tackles AI, conspiracy theories, and current politics with sharp observation, suggesting the band is still engaged rather than coasting.

New tracks alongside the hits

The ‘Love Is the Answer’ tour coincides with the release of Nothing But Love (The Definitive Best Of). The collection includes two new tracks: “Wake Up Superman” and “Hallelujah Anyhow.” The first gets its world premiere on Vernon Kay’s BBC Radio 2 show on 8th October.

Since returning from a six-year break in 2008, James have released five albums that have all charted in the upper reaches. This summer saw them play to over 20,000 fans on the streets of Penamacor, Portugal. In 2023, they received the PRS for Music Icon Award at the Ivor Novello Awards for their contribution to British songwriting.

The Aberdeen date brings together two bands who’ve remained relevant across multiple decades. With Doves as support and a setlist spanning hits and newer material, it’s a show that acknowledges James’s legacy while proving they’re still creating work that matters.
