Grant Brings Belmont Cinema One Step Closer to Net Zero
Foundation Scotland grant supports a brighter and greener cinematic experience at Belmont Cinema.
Aberdeen’s Belmont Cinema has moved closer to its sustainability goals with a £10,000 grant from Vattenfall’s Unlock Our Future Fund. This funding, managed by Foundation Scotland, will support projects across Aberdeen that foster community impact and environmental responsibility, marking a new chapter for Belmont’s ongoing revival efforts.
Investing in Sustainable Technology
Part of the grant will be used to install a stunning new 4K laser projector at Belmont, a more sustainable and immersive option. The new projector will enhance viewing quality while consuming up to 70% less energy than traditional xenon projectors. This upgrade signals the cinema’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and will offer audiences a state-of-the-art film experience in an eco-conscious venue.

Part of the strategy for the refurbishment of the much-loved Belmont is to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability, and wherever possible to reduce the environmental impact of the cinema building. This funding from Vattenfall supports this strategy.
