This Christmas, Jack and the Beanstalk at His Majesty’s Theatre is exactly the kind of family entertainment you want – brilliant fun, delightfully daft, and packed with local charm. After a busy year, I surprised my family with a trip to HMT. Trust me, this panto is everything you’d hope for…along with an extra dimension for good measure.
Greg McHugh, star of Gary Tank Commander, doesn’t disappoint. His ability to work the crowd is legendary, turning the performance into an interactive comedic masterpiece.

Laugh-out-loud moments define a brilliant show
However, an Aberdeen Panto wouldn’t be the same without Allan McCue and Paul J Corrigan. Allan steals scenes as the Panto dame, delivering laugh-out-loud moments that define the show. Danielle Jam sparkles on stage as the perfect contrast to Julie Coombe, so be ready to enjoy a great lineup. Just don’t forget to rehearse your panto cheers and boos!
Michael Karl-Lewis and Jemma Ferries bring Jack and Princess Jill to life with a natural chemistry. In fact, the whole cast works together to create something that feels both fresh and comfortingly familiar. It’s a great balance.
Kick-start your festive season
This year there’s a jaw-(or ice-cream)-dropping 3D sequence that brings the action out into the audience – a moment that’ll have you ducking and laughing in equal measure. But what makes this panto special is how it captures Aberdeen’s spirit. There’s a brilliant moment soundtracked by a rock classic rewritten with local lyrics that had everyone singing along. Those little touches transform a good show into a memorable night out.
For my family, an Aberdeen panto signals the beginning of Christmas. If you’re up for an evening of genuine laughs, local fun, and a bit of theatrical magic, this is your ticket. Jack and the Beanstalk is the perfect Christmas panto and it’ll kick your festive season off with a bang!
