Charlie House Brings Four Days of Inflatables to Aberdeen City
Free family event supports Charlie House programmes for children across the North-east

Inflatables are returning to the heart of Aberdeen this summer with The Big Bounce 2025, but there’s more going on than bouncy castles and giant slides. For Charlie House, the charity behind the event, The Big Bounce is about creating space for families to have fun together, including those who often miss out.
Running from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 August in Union Terrace Gardens, The Big Bounce will once again fill the city centre with laughter and play. But behind the bright colours and soft landings is a serious purpose: raising money to support children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the North-east.

Why this inflatable weekend matters
The event might look like a typical family day out, but for some, this is the first time they’ll see their child experience activities usually out of reach. Charlie House runs the four-day event with help from over 150 volunteers. While entry is free, tickets are required for activities and bouncy castles, with proceeds going towards inclusive outings, accessible equipment and emotional support.
Ollie Middleton from the charity explains: “Family time and play is an essential part of childhood. Before finding Charlie House, many of the children we support are told what they can’t do and miss out on many of the fun things that children should do.”
“We believe in making the impossible possible,” he added. That’s not just a slogan. Think paddleboarding with adapted support for wheelchairs, farm visits designed for accessibility, or simply the chance to bounce without barriers.

What’s new at The Big Bounce 2025?
Last year’s event drew in more than 6,000 people, a clear sign of the strong local support behind it. This time, the setup will grow to include more inflatables, face painting, food and drink, and small businesses offering family activities.
Entry is free, though you’ll need tickets for the bouncy castles and games, with all funds raised helping to support Charlie House’s work with local families.
In a packed summer calendar, Big Bounce stands out for its community roots. While many events bring visitors in, this one is very much for Aberdeen families. It’s run by local people, shaped by volunteers, and grounded in care. A reminder that play, joy and community support should be open to everyone.
