Between The Lines Sets the Tone for Summer with Debut EP

Aberdeen’s music collective, Between The Lines, has announced the release of their debut EP, The Waves of a Heartbreak. This new collection of songs weaves a story of love’s complexities through rap and house music, making it a perfect addition to any summer playlist.

The project is directed by Matty Lusher, who drew inspiration from influential American music projects like Lyrical Lemonade and Internet Money. The journey began with a serendipitous Instagram connection that led Matty to collaborate with artists Josh McLean and DeeEss. Together, they dreamed of creating a unique musical expression. The team grew to include Kuama, Chachy, and Yxng Lain, each adding their flavour to the mix, turning it into a rich story of emotional ups and downs.

Producing The Waves of a Heartbreak was no small feat. Matty shared that it required a huge amount of organisation. “Ensuring a smooth-sailing project meant we were in the studio at all hours, making numerous compromises to hit our release timeline,” he explained.

Matty stressed that the EP is more than just about music. He said, “It’s a testament to our community’s creativity and passion. We’re excited to share this heartfelt project with the world and show everyone what Aberdeen really has to offer.”

The EP tracks the journey of a relationship, starting with the hopeful Patience and moving through to the reflective Restart. Producer Joel Morrison was pivotal in crafting beats that harmonised the diverse vocal styles of the contributing artists. His production ensured the music not only told a story but also captured the listener’s heart, embodying the emotional rollercoaster of love and heartbreak.

As Aberdeen’s music scene grows and expands, Between The Lines stands out with its heartfelt and locally produced tracks. The Waves of a Heartbreak invites exploring complicated relationships through a homegrown lens.
