Belmont Bash Brings Free Summer Fun Back to Aberdeen
Local businesses and artists join forces for a city centre celebration full of heart.

Aberdeen’s cobbled quarter is gearing up for another day of free fun and local flair as The Big Belmont Bash returns for its second year. Organised by The Collective on the Cobbles, a community group made up of local businesses and charities, the event brings a burst of activity to Belmont Street, Little Belmont Street, Gaelic Lane, and Back Wynd.
This year’s first Bash takes place on Saturday, 31 May. The streets will come alive through the afternoon and evening with games, prizes, outdoor performances, and creative activities for all ages. Music has been curated by local collective Fine Times, and this year’s event also includes a charity tombola supporting Citymoves Dance Agency.

This summer, Aberdeen Arts Centre becomes a creative clubhouse for 5-11s to explore big ideas, get making, and try something new.
From 7-18 July, we’ll jump between sea monsters and skylines, imaginary cities and prepare for the Tall Ships' arrival through drama, craft, stories and play. Book for one day or the whole run – there’s plenty to discover. Discounts available.
Community spirit and creative energy
Over 8,000 people attended last year’s Bash, prompting organisers to bring it back twice. A second event is already planned for 6 September.
“The formula is simple,” said John Wigglesworth of Books and Beans, Chair of The Collective. “Create great fun, free activities for all. We just want to show that there are passionate organisations in the city centre taking the reins to collectively create positive events for the community to enjoy.”
Citymoves CEO Hayley Durward said the organisation was “delighted” to be the chosen charity for the May event, reflecting on the positive relationship the dance agency has shared with the Belmont Quarter for over three decades.

More than just a street party
The event is a simple but powerful reminder of what can happen when people get together with care, creativity and stubborn optimism. As The Collective put it, “This event is not about money. It’s about connecting with all of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to show that the city is open, full of life, and ready to welcome everyone.”
