New Art Installations Promote Inclusivity and Community Across Aberdeen

Aberdeen Performing Arts is celebrating visual arts with new installations across its three main venues: His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall, and the Lemon Tree. With the message “Everyone is Welcome Here,” these installations reflect a commitment to inclusivity, aiming to make every visitor feel valued, regardless of age, disability, gender, sexuality, or race.

Susan Whyte, Head of Creative Engagement, explains that this message came from the “Everyone is Welcome Here” cabaret at the Lemon Tree last autumn. “We strive to be welcoming and friendly,” she says, “and these signs show how much we value being respectful and kind.” The signs also serve as a great photo opportunity to help spread positivity.

A new exhibition at the Music Hall adds to the creative spirit. Organised by the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (GHAT), it features artworks chosen by NHS Grampian staff, hospital visitors, and GHAT staff. These pieces explore personal memories, local landscapes, and the natural environment, reflecting a wide range of emotions and ideas. Some were previously showcased in the “Abstracted Landscapes” exhibition at The Suttie Arts Space last winter.

The exhibition is everything you could ask for in a display of artwork – moving, beautiful and thought-provoking. The inspiration for GHAT is to create art that makes people feel better. This is such a simple, yet powerful thread that runs through the entire exhibition and we are honoured to be hosting it at the Music Hall.

GHAT’s mission is to integrate culture into healthcare, using art to enhance wellbeing. By hosting this exhibition, Aberdeen Performing Arts supports their belief that art can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives, whether they’re at a theatre, gallery, or hospital.

So, when you visit the Music Hall, take a moment to experience this exhibition. It’s a celebration of community spirit, creativity, and the idea that everyone truly is welcome here.
