Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks tease new names and secret menus
A foodie fortnight of fantastic flavours to find across the city

Aberdeen’s food spots are gearing up for two weeks of special menus, surprises and new discoveries. From 1 to 14 September, more than 60 restaurants, cafes and bars will take part in this year’s Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks. The fortnight features set-price menus, one-off dishes and a few offbeat extras that go beyond a standard meal out.
This year brings a healthy mix of first-time venues and familiar names. Among the newcomers are Sofra (in the former Nargile spot on Skene Street), Ask Italian, Glenhouse Restaurant, Luna Chinese Bistro and Wild Ginger. Wild Ginger, run by Jeffrey Rahman, will offer a menu that includes an appetiser, main, side, naan and a drink for £25.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our unique approach to Asian cuisine" said Jeffrey. He and his team can't wait "to welcome new and returning guests to experience something a little different in the heart of the city.”
Also making their debut are Kultura, offering Filipino dishes, and Travancore Aberdeen, with South Indian-inspired menus. Laila Turkish Cuisine joins the list too, bringing a mix of Mediterranean and vegetarian options.
Old favourites and secret menus
Meanwhile, Cup, Cafe Andaluz, 8848 and The Spiritualist are back. Hannah McConnachie from The Spiritualist said they always enjoy being part of the fortnight. It gives them a reason to try something new, welcome different diners and be part of a city-wide celebration of food.
One of the most talked-about features, the Secret Suppers, is back again this September. Diners book without knowing where they’ll be eating until the day itself. The first takes place on 31 August, with the others on 12 and 14 September.
Details are being kept under wraps, but organisers say the settings and menus are carefully chosen, and those who get tickets won’t be disappointed.

A challenge worth biting into
The Foodie Passport rewards diners who visit four different venues with a chance to win a £500 gift card. It’s a gentle push to explore new spots or revisit old favourites, with extra prizes including hotel stays and cookery classes.
While the event draws headlines for its menus and offers, it also helps Aberdeen’s hospitality sector during a slower spell in the calendar. Restaurants use the fortnight to test ideas, meet new customers and fill seats at a time of year that can be tricky.

Options range from street food at Arcadia Bar & Games and Shipyard Street Food, to pub classics at The Dutch Mill and Wild Boar, to international menus at Malmaison, Namaste Delhi, and The Terrace at His Majesty’s Theatre. With everything from ice cream at Mackie’s 19.2 to modern tasting menus at Six By Nico, there’s plenty to chew over this September.
The full list of participating venues is now available, with more expected to join before the fortnight begins. Whether you’re after a quick lunch or a multi-course tasting menu, there’s likely something new to try this September.
