Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks Returns as Its Biggest Ever

Ninety venues, secret suppers, and two weeks to eat somewhere you’ve never tried

Ninety restaurants, cafes and bars are taking part, making it the largest edition yet and the biggest event of its kind in Scotland. Special lunch and dinner menus run from £10 to £30, alongside tasting menus and à la carte options.

Several venues are making their first appearance, including Maggie’s Grill, Madame Mews, The Silver Darling and Wild Goose. Returning regulars include Amarone, Poldino’s, Namaste Delhi, 8848 and The Terrace at His Majesty’s Theatre.

The secret suppers

The most intriguing part of the fortnight is probably the Secret Suppers: three evenings where you won’t know where you’re going or what you’ll be eating until the day itself. The first, on 25 February, is already sold out. The other two (26 February and 5 March) are going the same way.

The premise is essentially a meal as a trust exercise, held in spaces described as having real historical significance, with menus built around locally sourced ingredients. If you can handle the suspense, it sounds like an ace night out."

The practical bit

Bookings are up across participating venues, so it’s worth reserving a table early if you have somewhere specific in mind. There’s also a bingo card this year, with challenges like visiting a fine dining restaurant or trying a new spot, which at least gives you a reason to go somewhere unfamiliar rather than spending the fortnight in the same three places.
