Local Productions and Big Shows

From 4–7 June, Beauty and the Beast brings the classic tale back to the stage. AEA Productions taps into the magic that keeps audiences coming back, with Belle and the Beast’s story of love and transformation feeling as familiar as ever, yet always worth another look.

On 13–14 June, The Wizard of Oz arrives with a twist. Shazam Theatre Company takes Dorothy’s journey a step further, following on from Wicked to explore what happens next. It’s a thoughtful way of extending a story that many of us know by heart, offering a chance to see it from a new angle.

From 18–21 June, Can’t Stop the Beat, a dance showcase from Just Dance pupils of all ages. From mini movers to adult tappers, each performer brings their spark to the stage. It’s not just a polished performance—it’s a celebration of movement, energy, and creativity.

Familiar Favourite with Fresh Energy

From 25 June, Annie takes the spotlight with Phoenix Youth Theatre. The familiar story of the determined orphan, the iconic songs, and the sunny optimism return, but it’s the fresh energy of local young talent that will make it feel new.

In July, Sky & Sea holiday camp offers a playful space for 5–11-year-olds to dive into big ideas. Led by professional artists, each day blends drama, craft, stories, and play, exploring everything from sea monsters to cityscapes. The camp ties into Aberdeen’s Tall Ships arrival, offering a creative build-up to the event.

Looking Ahead

Beyond June, there’s plenty more to look forward to at Aberdeen Arts Centre. From Popstars! The 90s Musical in early July, to Dean Friedman in Concert in August, and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in September, the programme keeps the creative momentum going.

Aberdeen Arts Centre continues to run creative classes for all ages, from drama and storytelling to songwriting and stage crafts. Whether you’re stepping onto the stage or just giving something new a go, there’s space here to explore.

Aberdeen Arts Centre is running a funding drive to help secure the iconic venue’s future. It’s a space that brings people together and keeps creativity alive in the city. If you can, consider donating to help keep the doors open for the next generation of stage performers.
